Let go of “perfect” and start (right) now.
I hear people say this often: I’ll start when… I’ll start if… I’m waiting for… It’s not perfect yet… I’m still learning… I’m not sure… …You get the idea. And I’m sure I’ve said several of the above numerous times.
To me, all those words mean is that you (or me) is thinking of excuses to put off doing what scares you, what excites you, and what is new and unknown to you. It’s fear whispering in your ear telling you that you aren’t ready, you aren’t worthy, you don’t deserve better, and that you are perfectly safe in your comfort zone.
Do you want to live that way?
I am pursuing my passion day after day, week after week, month after month, and year after year because I love it. Because I don’t know how to not do it. Because I know that I am better off with the active pursuit of my passions in my life than I am without them.
I didn’t wait for the moment to be “right” or “perfect”. I didn’t wait to go through four years (minimum) of higher-learning to get an advanced degree. I didn’t wait until I felt secure enough in my craft to start. I simply started and here I am wrapping up The Siren’s Sea Trilogy this year (the final installment will be available for purchase in early summer) and beginning with my next fiction novel, Evangeline and Gabriel, to be published in the winter (fingers-crossed of course on that release time).
I just did it.
I never thought that I couldn’t. I never thought that it wasn’t possible. I always knew. I always knew that I could… and so I did.
What are you passionate about? Are you actively pursuing it?
If not, START. NOW!
