Fire and Ice

Don’t go back to what broke you.
You’ll only get burned twice.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a pessimist. I believe people until they show me I shouldn’t. I see the best in people until their actions show me otherwise — and more often than not I love the person unfolding before me.

Allow people to show you who they are — believe them when they do — decide for yourself what’s best.

Do you want to stay? Do you want to go? Do you want to learn? Do you want to give it everything you’ve got? Is this worth your time and investment?

I often hear, “You’re too nice.” Now, I don’t see this as a fault. I give people the benefit of the doubt. What I am learning is to say, “No,” sooner rather than later to situations that bring me distress. It’s ok to get out of a bad situation. It’s ok to want to do what it takes to improve it… but you can’t do it alone. If you are going to give a relationship (of any kind) another chance make sure you are BOTH in it 100% because you can’t rebuild it all on your own.

People change, yes, but they’ll also tell you what you want to hear to get back into your life. Learn the difference.
