Unplugged

I needed to recharge
So I unplugged.

I got to go to Mexico recently and I had the opportunity to LEAVE MY PHONE AT HOME! And I totally did. It was awesome.

Yes, the hotel had wifi and I would have had access to my social media accounts and been able to contact my friends and family via various wifi enabled methods, but I didn’t …because I didn’t care.

We all have so much going on in our lives = commitments, deadlines, projects, to-do lists, social engagements, meetings, phone calls, text messages, emails, social media posts / activities, tv entertainment, work, play, and whatever else it is you have access to at the tip of your fingers… I WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.

I unplugged.

(I actually left my phone locked in a cabinet at home!) Yes, if there was an emergency I was with people who had phones, but everything went perfectly on the vaca and it was incredibly enjoyable to not be tied to my phone. I had my digital camera (some of you might remember the old fashioned device) if/when I wanted to take pictures, I brought books to read on the beach (and even bought more while we were down there), I took long walks on the beach, played in the water, and laid in the sunshine.

Its ok to “unplug” and take a step back — for when you reenter the “real-world” you’ll find that you really didn’t miss that much and whatever you did miss is patiently awaiting your return.

Unplug … whether it’s for a few hours, a few days, a week, several weeks, a month… etc… your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being will thank you. Reconnect with yourself and your needs.
