“When people show you who they are, believe them.”
[Unknown]
Throughout my experiences and observations of relationships (in all their forms – sibling, friend, lover, family…etc) there is always the grace period when everyone is on their best behavior and facing their best face forward. As time goes on and the transition begins to enter into the comfortable zone people start dropping their defenses and you truly get to see them, as they are and for who they are. This is the point where you really get to know them.
Whether the knowledge you gain is in their favor or not, say thank you. Thank you for showing me this side of you, the real you. Sometimes the conclusion is thus: You aren’t who I thought you were.
You needed to see this. However remember the mirror reflects both ways.
All anyone can do is be the purest and truest you and not listen anyone else. Those perfect people who are meant to be in your life as you grow and change will grow and change with you. They will fall instep right beside you.
Don’t be afraid to use your discrimination and walk away from relationships that are destructive and cause you pain. There is better out there, and know that you deserve it. If you’ve found such relationships in your life already, count yourself lucky. Cherish and appreciate everyday you get to spend with such lovely, supportive, caring and understanding people.
Surround yourself with people who let you be you, no conditions or demands, and simply offer them the same.
